Seeking Public Feedback
The Illinois Board of Interpreters would like your feedback to review the Illinois Interpreter for the Deaf Licensure Act of 2007 and its Administrative Rules for possible changes.
You may submit feedback:

The Illinois Board of Interpreters will review the submitted feedback and develop proposed recommendations at its next meeting.
This will be a two day meeting September 24-25, 2026, in Springfield, IL. The meeting will be live streamed (viewing only) to the public. The link to view will be posted on our Public Meetings page.

Video Transcript: (Dana) Hello. My name is Dana Craig. I work with the Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission, IDHHC. The purpose of this video is to discuss the Illinois Interpreter for the Deaf Licensure Act of 2007 and its various administrative rules, for example, education requirements, proficiency levels, continuing education, etc.
It's time to undertake a thorough review of the Act and its rules for potential updates that may need to be made.
The IDHHC and the Illinois Board of Interpreters are soliciting your feedback, comments and recommendations.

In the future, IDHHC may host virtual town hall meetings to solicit additional feedback.
