Professional Development Opportunities
The Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission (IDHHC) is sponsoring Free Online Summer Professional Development Opportunities and BEI Certification Test Preparation Workshops. The priority audience for these online training and workshops are in-state and out-of-state sign language interpreters who currently hold either an Illinois Sign Language Interpreter License, ISBE Education Interpreter Approval, and/or are Illinois ITP students and recent graduates. Some courses may be available for participants who are not in the priority audience.

Online Platform & Participation Policy
All online training and workshops will be taught virtually through the Zoom Platform.
Once registered, you will receive a Zoom link within 2 business days prior to the scheduled session. Please display your full name on the Zoom screen. Your name must match the registration record. If your full name is not displayed or doesn’t match the registration record, you may not get the CEUs or credit for the workshop. You must have access to high speed Internet, use of a laptop or computer with a camera. The use of a smartphone or Chromebook is not allowed.
All participants agree that the Commission will verify virtual participation through the Zoom Usage Reports to ensure appropriate CEUs are provided. Signing in and out of the workshop will result in forfeiture of CEUs.
Charge & Cancellation Policy
There is no charge or cancellation policy for all workshops sponsored by the Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission.
Participants wishing to register for the Preparing for BEI Basic Certification Test or Preparing for BEI Advanced Certification Test will need to pay for a GoReact account $31.99 which will allow them access to the practice material included in this course for six (6) months.
Participants who received the confirmation to attend the workshops then not planned to attend are strongly advised to give two-week advance notice of your intention not to participate for any reason by sending an email to DHH.Training@Illinois.gov.
