Seeking Members for Stakeholders Advisory Group

News – Wednesday, February 19, 2025

The Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission (IDHHC) is excited to announce the formation of the IDHHC Director’s Stakeholders Advisory Group (SAG). This unique opportunity allows passionate individuals to share their insights and expertise on issues concerning the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind community. The SAG will play a key role in making recommendations to the IDHHC Director on addressing the shortage of sign language interpreters and enhancing data collection in the field of Deaf services.

Members are expected to be committed, engaged, and collaborative volunteers who are ready to make a difference. Meetings will be held on varying dates to accommodate different schedules and the progress of recommendations. All meetings will be virtual, scheduled during normal business hours, and fully accessible. There is no reimbursement or compensation for participation.

It is important to note that members of the SAG are not considered Commissioners or official representatives of the Commission. This is an informal advisory group designed to provide the IDHHC Director with valuable perspectives from various community representatives impacted by these issues.

The Commission will provide public updates on SAG progress via its website. While only SAG members will actively participate in meetings, a live view-only link will be provided to the public.

If you are interested in becoming a member, please submit a brief statement of interest and any relevant experience or qualifications to DHH.Communications@illinois.gov no later than February 26, 2025.
