Procedures for Completing an Application for BEI Performance Test

Your application is incomplete without all three requirements above and can only be accepted during the "Accepting Applications" status listed in the BEI Performance Testing Schedule chart.

Application
Important: Passing the Test of English Proficiency is a requirement before applying for a performance test.
Applications are only accepted during the "Accepting Applications" status listed in the BEI Performance Testing Schedule chart. We cannot accept applications for the application period that is not open. If you are an out-of-state applicant requesting a testing appointment in advance to accommodate your travel arrangements, please contact DHH.Interpreter@Illinois.gov.

Testing Fees & Payment
The required fees for the Basic, Advanced, or Master performance are listed below. An additional fee of $35 if you reside out of state (outside Illinois).

Illinois ePay is electronic payment site offered as a convenience and can be used with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or eCheck. It is not an online application process. All fees are Non-Refundable.

The Study Guide in the Illinois_BEI_Manual includes Chapter 5 through 8 helps you become familiar with the testing process from application to receiving the results. It is highly recommended to review the Manual thoroughly prior to taking the test.
